Michael Stone

Michael Stone is the primary author of the Center’s book, Smart by Nature: Schooling for Sustainability (2009: Watershed Media/University of California Press). He co-edited Ecological Literacy: Educating Our Children for a Sustainable World (2005: Sierra Club Books). Prior to coming to the Center, Stone was managing editor of Whole Earth magazine and the Millennium Whole Earth Catalog, and has written for The Toronto Star and The New York Times, among other publications. He was a founding faculty member and academic vice president of World College West in northern California.
