GREEN SCHOOLS NATIONAL CONFERENCE
MISSION STATEMENT

The inaugural conference will be held on October 24-26, 2010 in Minneapolis, MN.  The mission of the conference is to:

  1. Foster the establishment, enhancement, and advancement of schools with environment-focused educational programs and practices.

  2. Help students gain the knowledge, skills, motivation, hands-on experiences, insights and confidence to make the world a better place to live in.

  3. Bring school leaders, educators, students, parents, business & community leaders, policymakers and others together to create a “green culture” in their schools and to promote environmental literacy & sustainable schools communities across the United States.

  4. Share information and resources relating to school educational programs, green facilities, accountability, project-based learning, innovative technologies, funding, best practices, anywhere & anytime learning, governance, leadership, health and wellness, teaching and learning, green practices, curriculum integration and cross-discipline teaching strategies, eco-literacy, and future forces affecting education.

  5. Recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of students, educators and others at green schools.

  6. Inform, advocate, inspire and engage the public in support of green schools.

  7. Establish State and Regional Green School Chapters to foster local and regional collaboration.

The Green Schools National Conference is a project of The Green Charter Schools Network, a Wisconsin non profit corporation that is tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3).  The Green Charter Schools Network is the fiscal sponsor of the Green Schools National Conference.  Because of this sponsorship, contributions to the Green Schools National Conference are tax-deductible as permitted by law.
